Greetings!
The next meeting of the Canon Co-op is this Sunday, August 2 at 4 pm. We will be meeting at Donia’s house, 322 N. Diamond Ave., Canon City (up the road from Pizza Hut). The pot luck theme is “Cool Food.” Bring anything that doesn’t have to be baked or served warm. We have a full schedule with meeting & program—Andrew McDonald with Ranch Foods Direct will give us a presentation. Everyone is welcome!
Attached is a copy of the minutes from the last meeting in July. Please read them over, so we can discuss and approve quickly.
The Farmer’s Market booth has been going well
and next Wednesday will be the monthly bake sale, so please think about bringing some baked goods to help us have a full selection. Last bake sale paid for our banner—now we need to buy an awning and it costs a little bit more! We are still looking for local products to sell at the booth—anyone out there have anything?
Dan & Cynthia have some more grass-fed lamb for sale. $200 for a lamb (average 40-45 lbs.), they were processed in April, so they will be frozen. If you are interested let us know.
We also have a source for eco-friendly paper goods (waxed paper, baking cups, parchment paper, etc.) and recycled foil. If anyone is interested in purchasing, let us know.
Hopefully everyone has seen the new website by now. The Conversation page is beginning to get some good info posted in there. We encourage you to check it out. And post your recipe for the dish you are bringing to the meeting on Sunday. See you there!

Hey everyone!
We had a great meeting on Sunday. Helene & Curtis have a beautiful home and wow–what a view of the bridge! Much business was taken care of and the Co-op is definitely moving in the right direction. Dan & Cynthia gave a program on healthy chocolate and getting to taste all the different products was great. Cory was given a complimentary membership for making our colorful logo and hopefully we will be able to reproduce it on some t-shirts in the near future. The Farmer’s Market is going good and we still need people to come and see us and maybe help out. We will be having another bake sale on August 5th. Last time we only had 3 members bring baked goods–we sold out. How about a few more this time?
Judy & Kieran have been working very hard on our new website and we would like everyone to check it out. Please take a look; and make sure you go to the “Conversation” page and post something. Our goal is to get all members to post to the forum at least once a month. Let’s get some energy moving around the community. And give us some feedback on the website–we want to hear your suggestions.
There has been talk going around about going as a group to see the movie, “Food, Inc.” on July 31in Colorado Springs. There is a post on the Conversation page under organic food. Go to the website
www.foodincmovie.com and watch the trailer. Let’s get a group together–this is something we need to see.

Greetings!
I hope everyone had a great July 4th weekend. Mother Nature cooperated with a little moisture and we were still able to enjoy the beautiful fireworks.

The Co-op now has a logo and the booth at the Farmer’s Market has been going strong. We have recruited some new members and several of our members have been selling their homegrown produce. We still have room for more participants. If you are a member and have homemade or homegrown products to sell, bring them down. And even if you don’t have products to sell, we still need you—come help man the booth. Everyone should have the experience of working a farmer’s market—it really is a lot of fun. Every Wednesday at Veteran’s Park at 7 a.m.
The Florence Library is having a program on Canning, Preserving and Dehydrating this week. It will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7th. Check their website for more info at www.florencecolibrary.org. I found this information on our new website www.canonfoodco-op.com on the “Conversations” tab. The website is still being tweaked a little to get the bugs out, but the conversation system seems to be working. So check it out and leave a message on the board. How about posting if you need a ride to the next meeting?
