The June meeting was held at the home of Roxanne Schuster. Judy and Kieran are working on our new website. Check it out sometime www.canonfoodco-op.com.

Cory has finalized our logo and we are having it made into a 2X6’ banner for the Farmer’s Market booth and other uses we may have. The Farmer’s Market has been going good, although we could use more members to man the booth. Donia, Paula and Mike have been there most every week and our mailing list and membership list is growing from our increased exposure. There is still room for any members to participate and sell any products they may have. Donia and Paula have been selling produce from their gardens and Mike has a nice display of alpaca goods.

Judy and Kieran have been checking into buying bulk staples, but we need some input from members as to what items they regularly buy and would like to get in bulk at reduced prices.

Following the meeting, Roxanne gave a presentation on “raw food cuisine” and demonstrated the preparation of a kale and coleslaw salad.

The next meeting will be held at the home of Helene Blake and Curtis Johnson. It will be July 12th at 4 p.m. Their home is out by the Royal Gorge (1600 County Road 61). The road is past the turn off to the Royal Gorge and right across the road from the entrance to Raven Rafting–turn left off of Hwy 50. The pot luck theme is “Favorite Foods from your Childhood.” The program will be by Dan & Cynthia Nichols on Healthy Chocolates.

Hope to see everyone there!

Hey Everyone!  The Canon Co-op booth at the Farmer’s Market is going great.  We have been selling some excess produce and plants out of our gardens, and Mike Moser has brought some of his alpaca products also.  We are getting much information about our group out into the community–and new members are joining.  We still need members to help man the booth and please bring us some items for sale if you have them.

We will be having a bake sale (breads, cookies, breakfast items) on the last Wednesday this month, June 24th.  So if any of you would like to donate some baked goods, we would really appreciate it.  The market starts at 7 am, and we are there around 6:30.  Please come join in–it’s lots of fun!

We have also been approached by one of the other vendors.  They sell locally grown, farm fresh, chemical free poultry.  The price at the booth is around $4/lb, but they have offered us a price break if we order in quantity.  They would charge us $3.10/lb for their whole chicken.  If anyone is interested, please let us know how many you would like (each chicken runs 3-4 lbs.) and we will let them know how many to bring to the next Farmer’s Market.
The next meeting will be July 12th at 4pm, so mark your calendars.  Details on the meeting and program will be coming later in the month.
