Becky Elder also conducts a full day on site consultation for $150, which includes an informative intro packet and an hour walk-a-bout on the land. There is an advance questionnaire to help folks get into the site analysis mode. And, after the consultation walk-a-bout, Becky will send a follow up packet that is more specific to the site and concerns. Becky will reduce the cost of the consultation to $125 each for 2 or 3 consultations, and $115 each for 4 or 5 consultations.
She really knows her stuff and is easy to talk to. Highly recommended!

I have participated at Javernick CSA for the past two summers. The vegetables are wonderful and the work with the other members is great. Beki, who runs the farm, is very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend membership to anyone interested in organic veggies and a wonderful community experience.

And speaking of local, as we head into winter where there's little truly local produce to be had, it's important to make your voice heard (and back it up with your dollars) at our leading local supermarket, City Market.

City Market carries local [Western Slope] organic apples (look for the bagged ones for best value) and quite a lot of other organic produce. They also offer never-frozen, local [Denver area] Red Bird chickens, which are hormone and antibiotic-free, as well as organic chicken from California and Coleman natural beef.

In talking with the guys in the meat department (and the gals in produce) they've said they really would like to offer more such products but often have problems with stuff going past-date. In other words, not enough of us in the local community are buying these products.

I for one have decided to pay more for my chicken and organic produce (vs. runs to the Springs) because I want to support having these perishable items in the community. For great prices on the many organic and natural staples City Market doesn't carry, or doesn't have good quality choices in (e.g. bulk rice, olive oil, almond butter, flour) I'll stick with Costco and Vitamin Cottage, but they are really trying with organics and need our support to do more.
